Kevin Crumbo, Director of Finance, Metro Nashville
Kevin Crumbo has been Metro Nashville’s Finance Director for nearly two years.
In this role, he has been Chair of Metro’s Investment Committee and its Procurement Appeals Board, and he has been seated on Metro’s Audit Committee, Employee Benefits Board, and Airport Authority.
He was appointed by Mayor John Cooper in October of 2019 with the highest priority to stabilize Metro’s financial position and set the course for a sustainable financial future.
At the time he was taking office, the State Comptroller was threatening a takeover of the city if it could not get its financial house in order.
Kevin’s mission quickly turned more daunting as the city experienced devastating tornados, flooding, the COVID-19 pandemic, social unrest, and a bombing of Nashville’s historic downtown area.
Despite these unforeseen challenges, his mission has been accomplished – the city’s budget is balanced with sustainable revenue and spending streams, cash and fund balances are restored, and liabilities are reduced to manageable levels. The city’s outlook is bolstered by a post-pandemic economy poised for growth.
Prior to public service, Kevin became best known to our business community for leading several high-risk financial restructurings in the 2000’s. He then co-founded the Pine Haven Family Office whose portfolio of public and private investments includes several sectors of our local economy.
Kevin announced plans in June to pass the Metro baton to a successor and return to Pine Haven by the end of the summer.
He is a Vanderbilt MBA and holds professional credentials in accounting, insolvency & restructuring, and valuation. Kevin has been admitted as a financial expert in US Federal Court and has been recognized by journals and professional organizations for his business accomplishments.
Kevin is a pilot and aviation enthusiast, and when there’s not a business adventure at hand, he’s often aloft for other kinds of adventure.
