Cary “C.J.” Stimson, MD JD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) where he specializes in the surgical treatment of cancer of the urinary tract, particularly kidney, bladder, and prostate cancer. He is Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer in the Office of Population Health at Vanderbilt Health System.
Dr. Stimpson, a practicing cancer surgeon, is also Medical Director of Episodes of Care and has led bundled payment policy development at Medicare and at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Stimson will trace the arc of the contemporary bundled payment narrative from Medicare to Direct-to-Employer models that enable healthcare purchasers to take back control of benefit costs and develop a closer relationship with the healthcare providers who are caring for their employees.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University Medical School, Dr. Stimpson completed his residency at Vanderbilt and his fellowship at John Hopkins University.
